Description

Join us for a hands-on, family-centered fishing workshop! Families will learn the fundamentals of using a traditional Japanese Tenkara rod. Using live bait, you will find that these rods offer an approachable, effective method for anglers of all ages and ability levels. Participants will explore what to use, where to fish, and how to troubleshoot, all while practicing environmentally sensitive fish handling practices. Using our interactive observation bucket, families will get an up-close look at what lives beneath the water’s surface, building curiosity through real-time discovery. Our mindful approach takes the guesswork out of fishing and encourages a deeper connection to nature. For those who are ready for the fullest experience, We’ll wrap up by watching our instructor clean and prepare a “sunny” for the frying pan! This may be the most fascinating science lesson your child will receive this year, showing how the meat we eat comes from living creatures, and how this can be done with the utmost respect and appreciation for the natural world.
